Mt. Bethel Village
Mt. Bethel Village is a residence tailored to the needs of adults with autism, developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries or for those who are in need of supports and are not in the special needs system. Mt. Bethel Village is a two-story, elevator apartment building that houses residents in one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment has a private entrance, kitchenette, separate bedroom and living areas and a private bath, all barrier-free and accessible. There is a communal dining room for those who choose to eat with other adults in the building and other common areas such as the Family Activities Room, Computer Lab, Library/Music Room, TV Social/Family Room, Art Studio, Game Room, Gym and Lobby/living room with a fireplace allow for friendly gatherings. For safety and security there is a state of the art digital video monitoring system throughout the building (except in the private apartments). The Mt. Bethel Village Day Program is designed to provide a day to develop life skills, vocational preparation, community participation and personal development for adults with autism, developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries, or those outside of the special needs system who do need supports. Typically, a member will arrive by 9:30 AM and spend a day engaged in an array of fun, confidence-building activities including: Dance, exercise, art, music, film, photography, yoga and sports Assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s), habilitation skills, self-advocacy and social skills Computer skills lab, video games Money management Media and current events Each member may bring their own lunch or purchase lunch for a small fee. All activities are closely supervised by our highly trained staff. The Mt. Bethel Day Program provides the support of a nurse, but does not offer advanced medical supports. All staff are certified to provide medications prompting based on the DDD Approved Training Model as of October, 2014. Members must be picked up each day by 2:30 PM or will be on a bus to be transported home.
